Allen Reed began playing the flute at a young age in grade school. By middle school, Allen switched over to alto saxophone, and soon became hooked on jazz. He had heroes Charlie Parker and Miles Davis influencing his creativity and until later, after a short stay at Mt Hood College in Gresham, Oregon where Allen Reed would pick up playing acoustic guitar and enter into a Neil Young/Pink Floyd type of exploration.
